'Amendments in Rules for Blood Banks under Drugs & Cosmetic Act – Way forward for NABH Standards  Date- 09 July 2020  Accreditation Programme for Blood Banks/ Blood Centres & Blood Transfusion Centres was launched in 2008. Accreditation improves the quality standards of Blood Centres/ Blood Transfusion Centres in all areas right from collection, processing, testing, compatibility, transfusion to haemovigilance and quality assurance.   NABH has already aligned the accreditation standards for blood banks with amendments made in National Guidelines/rules with regard to Haemovigilance, E-Raktkosh, facility safety, Biomedical Waste Management during last year.  The recent amendments in Drug & Cosmetics Act in March 2020, has necessitated overhaul of many clauses in NABH Standards for Blood Banks/ Centres.
