Watch this WGCL TV Atlanta report and learn more about spa dentistry. (music) From WGCL TV Atlanta This is Clear News at 5. Now I'm going to slide a cool eye therapy on your eyes to keep your eyes nice and comfortable. And if you're one of millions of Americans who hates going to the dentist, find out about a new way to see your dentist that might bring a smile to your face. In Clear News about your health tonight many of us, in fact most of us dread going to the dentist. Some people so much though that they just avoid it all together. Well Clear News health reporter, April Nelson, has made a big promise tonight. She 's here to show us the new trend in dentistry that will actually make us look forward to going to the dentist. April Nelson: Can you imagine that? I can't imagine it! April Nelson: Looking forward to going to the dentist. Well, the last time I went it was the best visit of my life. Here's why: (music) April Nelson: Scented candles all aglow. The sounds of jazz floating through the air. It looks like a dentist office, but it feels more like a spa. Ratalas Stewart is here to get her teeth cleaned. What she didn't expect was a hand treatment of warm paraffin wax. Assistant: This is going to keep the wax nice and warm so your hands feel very smooth and silky. April Nelson: A massage chair, a nice aromatherapy massage pillow, and massage boots plus a cool eye mask. Have you ever been to a dentist office like this? Ratalas Stewart: Absolutely not! April Nelson: What Ratalas is experiencing is a new trend in dentistry. Dr. Debra Gray King: All kinds of amenities that we can provide our patients; they can feel like their somewhere else. April Nelson: Dr. Debra King says it's important for patients to feel like their somewhere pleasant and relaxing. Dentists nationwide are beginning to understand that if a patient feels that way, instead of anxious or terrified, they're more likely to come to the dentist more often, especially if they can watch a movie. Dr. Debra Gray King: My favorite are the virtual realty glasses. You can put them on and while you're having dental work done, it's like seeing a movie on a big screen TV. April Nelson: With all this, patients drift off into another world while they get the healthcare they need. Ratalas Stewart: I forgot I was at the dentist office! I was just laying back in this chair all relaxed. Dr. Debra Gray King: In this day and age, everyone wants to do two things at once and if you can watch a movie you've been wanting to watch at the same time or get a massage at the same time you're getting your dentistry done. It just allows you to do more things at once. Ratalas Stewart: It was great! I haven't even been to a spa like this before! April Nelson: The Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry is among only a few that offer spa-like amenities to their clients. So if your doctor is not doing this, ask for the royal treatment and you should get this at no extra charge. I think I might be convinced! April Nelson: Isn't that great? I think it's a wonderful way to get business and to get patients to come to the doctor like they should. And it all makes sense too. If you're mind is on something else... April Nelson: Then you don't think about what the doctor's doing. I loved it!
