'Mild Hair Shampoo There are many different formulations of hair shampoos. This one below is very basic with just a few ingredients. It will be mild but with conditioning properties. Formulation: Water 56% Sulfosuccinate (surfactant) 15% Coco Betaine (surfactant) 15% Polyglucose (surfactant) 5% PEG 7-Glyceryl Cocoate (emollient) 2% Quaternium-31 (detangler) 4% Glucose-T (thickener) 2% Phenoxyethanol/Sorbic Acid (mild preservative blend) 1% Fragrance Mix ingredients in order and stir after each ingredient before adding the next. Test pH. Ideal pH range is between 4.5-6.5. If the pH is above 7 (alkaline) add a bit of citric acid and stir well, then measure the pH again. Citric acid will decrease the pH. If the pH is below 4.5 add a tiny amount of TEA (triehanolamine) stir well, then test the pH again. TEA will increase the pH. If you need to adjust the thickness add more of Glucose-T. It comes in a liquid form and can easily be added at the end. Once the foam has settled this shampoo is going to be clear. Fragrances can make the shampoo cloudy depending on type and amount used. The following ingredients can also be added to the shampoo depending on the claim: Plant extracts, emollients, vitamins, proteins, silicones and additional conditioners. All ingredients can be found on our website www.makingcosmetics.com.'
