'In this video, I take your hand and walk you through the process of butterflying a whole chicken, prepping it with my special rub/mayo mixture and then smoking the chicken to perfection. I used my Hasty Bake Legacy with lump charcoal and pecan wood for these smoked chickens but you can do this on any smoker whether it\'s a charcoal, electric or pellet smoker or even a grill. ==BASTING DURING COOKING== During the cooking process, I basted the chicken with a mixture of 1 stick of real butter (melted) and 2 TBS of Jeff\'s original rub (https://thinbluefoods.com/collections/all) For more exciting recipes on smoking meat, vegetables, appetizers and more, visit https://smoking-meat.com ==BRINING THE CHICKEN== I did not show the brining of the chicken however, I do recommend it. Make the brine: -1 gallon of cold water -1 cup of coarse kosher salt (Morton\'s blue box) Mix salt into water until dissolved. Place chicken into plastic or glass container and pour brine over chicken to cover. Place container into fridge for 4 hours. Rinse with cold water when finished. ==RESTING THE FINISHED CHICKEN== I recommend tenting foil over the chicken for 10-15 minutes when it\'s finished cooking and before carving.
